My mast has arrived! It comes in two pieces, so it can be disassembled for transportation. I still have to find a place to store it.

In the meantime I started work on the last frame.

Work has become quite difficult. The roof of our shed is corrugated steel, which means it gets hot. Last weekend temperature inside reached 35°. I have to work really fast, because the epoxy cures very quickly in this heat.

With every frame the shape of the boat gets clearer. I’m now working on the last two frames, those forward of the watertight bulkhead.

View from the middle of the boat to the back. You can see the slanted frame, with the opening for the hatch. The frame is not vertical but in an angle, to make entering the boat easier.

That’s the view from the cockpit. This is where I will enter the boat.

Dryfitting the bunk sides and the first frames. Big step forward! It’s a great feeling to see the boat taking shape.

So that will be the side panels of my beds, so very important parts. If they are not straight I will probably have bad dreams…

In parallel I’m working on the frame with the main hatch. That frame will be installed in an angle, so I have to adjust some of the battens for that frame. they need an angle on the top side.

Got some practice with the plane.

Another frame finished. I can’t place this one the jig yet. It will hang an the bunksides that will be installed between the other two frames (we will see in one or two weeks how that works).
This is the first «empty» frame, without a solid plywood back. It was not so easy to align everything accurately, not helped by the frame being wider than the table.

That’s the next frame. This one took a bit longer than the others. There’s a lot of timber on it. The massiv oak beams take the compression loads of the mast, so quite important to do everything right.
This frame acts as watertight bulkhead that separates the Front of the boat from the main «living area».

The frames are not in the exact position yet. I will align them when they are all finished.

There’s a lot of material in our small loft. It’s not easy to find specific parts. Here’s me looking for part 35S.

Still busy with frame A. Meanwhile I placed the Transom on the jig. It gives a first Impression of the size of the boat. It isn’t big… but neither am I, so that’s a match.

I started at the very back of the boat, the transom.

I glued on all the timbers. I used some weights to press them to the plywood. While I’m building the boat I won’t have time for fitness anyway (good excuse!).

I added fillets where necessary.
